It's all about the creek…and the mountains

Blackwell Branch Cabin-Reviews

Heaven. Our first visit to North Carolina and we found Jorge and Linda and their little piece of heaven.
The property was amazing and very beautiful.
The house was very clean and had all that you will need on your stay.
The scenic drive into town and you have Dining, Gas , and a really nice grocery store with everything you could ask for. An hour drive to Great smoky mountain national park and the Cherokee reservation. And just a short drive south is lake Chatuge in Georgia.
A private community.
If you want peace and quiet, Woods and water, Mountains and scenery this is it.
We loved our visit and look forward to staying again.
Highly recommend. thank you Jorge and Linda.

Just what our family needed

Just what our family needed. We live nearby and hosted a Birthday celebration for my father-in-law. We rented Blackwell Branch Cabin to house some of the visiting relatives and it was perfect. They loved it….especially having coffee and conversations on the deck overlooking the creek.

So Many Personal Touches

brasstown bald

So many personal touches!  We loved our stay at this beautiful, well equipped cabin. The owners were kind, helpful, and had so many personal touches such as fresh flowers that made it a wonderful trip. The family was happy to stay at the cabin for the entire time. There’s so much to do in the quiet, small community. We fished (catch and release in the pond), played in the creek, enjoyed an outdoor fire, fed cattle, and just sat on the back porch. We went into town and enjoyed the shopping and restaurants. We liked Black Dog restaurant and Nocturnal Brewing Company. WiFi and streaming worked great for the teens. A fun surprise was seeing the private planes taking off and landing nearby. The dogs were happy with the beautiful yard, but I think we’ll leave them at home on the next trip as it was like having a child in an unfamiliar environment. We will return and the property is definitely a 5 star property. Thank you!

Pond With Lots Of Fish

Pond with lots of fish! My husband and I brought 3 15 year old boys here because they wanted to fish. The property was beautiful! The house had everything we needed. It was stocked and cleaned. Linda met us and showed us around. She and her husband are so nice and helpful. They have thought of everything. There is a stream in the backyard that is fresh and filled with trout. And a pond just past that with lots of fish. The boys spent hours fishing from both. We enjoyed the peaceful area sitting on the back deck. We definitely will be back to the same place.

Clean, Spacious and Well-stocked

Clean, spacious and well-stocked. Linda and Jorge’s place in the mountains is a perfect getaway. The cabin is clean, spacious, and well-stocked. The hosts are generous, very easy to communicate with, and even went out of their way to return an item we left behind. We enjoyed the cozy ness of the place with the wood burning stove and listening to the creek at night. The location was close to amenities though it simultaneously felt out of the way. There was great hiking and fishing that we took advantage of. We loved the place and would return in a heartbeat.

Very Clean And Everything We Needed

Snow firepit creekside

Very clean and everything we needed was there. Perfect! We are already looking for another week we can stay again!! Very clean and had everything we needed. Hosts were very responsive!!

Cabin Was Spectacular

Cabin was spectacular in terms of being a completely stocked cabin. Everything needed was there and very clean. The location was beautiful along the creek in a very secluded area. Walking our dogs right from the cabin is what we like instead of walking on trails. This is a gem of a cabin and perfect hosts. This cabin checked off all of our boxes. Thanks for letting us stay at your cabin!

Truly Enchanting

Truly enchanting! Surrounded by the changing Autumn colors of the forest, listening to the sound of the rushing water of the creek, on the wrap-around porch in the back of our cabin was so and relaxing. Exactly, what we needed for a few days! Upon arrival, our cabin was spotlessly clean, warm and cozy. There were fresh flowers on the table, fresh fruit in a bowl on the counter and even treats for our big puppy dog! We also, enjoyed some local shopping, restaurants and a nice winery. Linda and Jorge are amazing hosts! Yes, we were sad to leave and wished for more time. So, we will definitely be back to this wonderful place again! We highly recommend Blackwell Branch Cabin to anyone wanting to escape the hustle & bustle of daily living.

Beautiful Mountain Stream

Snow firepit creekside

Beautiful mountain stream and immaculate cabin. Accurate directions, easy check in and quick responses to questions and requests. The cabin was comfortable and well stocked. Highly recommend with plans to return. Thank you Linda and Jorge.

Just As Advertised If Not Better

Just as advertised if not better. My only complaint is that we were so busy doing day trip activities that I didn’t have a day to just stay at the cabin and enjoy. The property was just as advertised, if not better. We’ll for sure be coming back in the summertime!

Wonderful Setting

Tusquittee Creek

Wonderful setting right beside the creek. Our family of 5 stayed at Blackwell Branch Cabin for the weekend of Veteran’s day and the property was exactly as advertised. The home was clean, well-stocked and updated Upon arrival we were met by Linda who gave us a walkthrough of and went over important details regarding the property. This was comforting as we knew that the owners, who were very responsive through the whole process, were close by in the event that any issues were to arise (which there were none). There was plenty of space for everyone in the house, and there was anything you could need in the kitchen to cook meals. The home was in a wonderful setting with the creek, the trails, and the lake and we enjoyed walking the trails and hanging out by the creek. Nights were spent by the fire pit which was very peaceful and quiet. Overall a great stay, a great property and somewhere we would definitely consider renting again.

Clean, Beautiful, Secluded

Clean, beautiful and secluded property, every need is met!!! Linda and Jorge anticipate your every need – the pantry is stocked with ziploc bags, aluminum foil, a first aid kit and even bug spray! They also have two different kinds of coffee makers, if you use a Keurig, just pack some k-cups and you’re enjoying your morning coffee out on the back deck in no time. The cupboards have everything you will ever need (if you even plan on cooking.) There are extra blankets to snuggle with on the couch and a wood burning stove for a little ambiance. However, you will probably spend most of your time on the deck, fishing or walking along the creek, or roasting marshmallows at the fire pit. A fishermen’s paradise…large mouth bass fish in the pond, and trout fish in their beautiful stream. Linda was amazing and was very helpful with any questions we may have had. We loved our short time here and are looking ahead to see when we can get back!!! NOTE: You’re definitely off the grid if you have Sprint/T-Mobile – no cell service, no GPS, no Waze – rely on the old fashion map and written instructions.

Secluded Creekside Location

Secluded creekside location – Great cabin!  The house was very clean and everything was as advertised. Kitchen very well appointed with modern appliances. Linda is a delight. Would definitely recommend! Thanks, Linda! We had a great (if brief) stay & hope to come back sometime.”

Spotless, Private And Abundantly Stocked

Spotless, private and abundantly stocked! Our stay at Linda’s home was wonderful! Not only does a beautiful stream flow through the backyard, but it includes walking trails with more areas to relax and access the creek, and a pond with fish- which my daughter found delightful- all situated in a valley with mountains surrounding you. It was also spotless, private, abundantly stocked with goods and came with thoughtful welcoming gifts. Quiet with no problems accessing it regarding roads or cell service. Hard floors too no carpet so great for brining the dog while keeping things clean!. Loved the area as well and had so much fun! We hiked and swam at Jackrabbit, fished at Shooting creek rec area, hiked to Siler Bald and Rufus Morgan Falls, swam and inner-tubed in Fire’s Creek, swam at Chatuge Dam rec area and picked up memory tokens at a cute little shop in town. Used the crockpot for meals and had a couple campfires. We had a great time- thank you so much Linda for sharing your home with us!

Natalie K.

Firewood For Campfire

Trilium wildflowers

Firewood for campfire ! Fresh fruit! Property was extremely clean and private on a good bit of land with trout fishing in creek and bass in the lake. Firewood for camp fire to a full cabinet of spices and even fresh fruit was provided. Linda thought of it all to make our stay perfect.

Better Than The Pictures

Better than the pictures. Linda asked us to text her when we were close. It worked out well because she was there to greet us when we arrived. We have been disappointed when we have arrived at some rentals in the past but not this time. The setting and the cabin was perfect, better than the pictures. The house was extremely clean and neat. Linda took some time to show us around and point out things we needed to know. We had a great time exploring Hayesville and the surrounding area but enjoyed just as much hanging out at the cabin with our dog. We loved sitting on the back deck staring at and listening to the beautiful creek, watching the birds (especially a kingfisher that would chatter loudly as he cruised up and down the creek), wading in the creek, and taking morning and afternoon walks up the road, through the meadow and around the pond. We can’t wait to go back. It was nice knowing that Linda and Jorge were close by if we needed anything but yet it was extremely private. They are great hosts.

Eric & Mary S.

Nestled In The Forest

Tusquittee Creek

Nestled in the forest. Property is nestled in the forest with large creek beside it. Well stocked and maintained. Linda was super helpful and went way out of her way when we had a pet emergency. We will be back.

Thought Of Every Little Thing

Owners have thought of every little thing. This property is beyond beautiful! Linda has thought of every little thing. The house was immaculate and was fully stocked with anything you would need during your stay. We rented this house for my father in-laws 80th birthday and it was perfect. We fished in the pond, played in the river, and relaxed on the porch. It was WONDERFUL!

Very Clean, Great Stay

Very clean, great stay. Beautiful secluded location on a creek, yet very close to lots of things to do. That is if you can bring yourself to leave the property. Very clean and set up for a great stay. Linda greeted us upon arrival and was so great through out our visit. I hope to return many more times.

Listening To The Creek Babble

Tusquittee Creek

Listening to the creek babble. My sister and I wanted to take our 92-year-old mother for a relaxing trip to celebrate getting our Covid vaccines. We could NOT have chosen a more perfect spot! Linda and Jorge were exceptional hosts and the house and location were amazing! The house is stocked with everything (and I mean EVERYTHING) and the owners added several personal touches. We sat out on the back deck as much as possible listening to the creek babble as it meandered through the backyard and also to just take in the natural beauty of the area.

There is a small grass airstrip in the distance beyond the pond and we loved watching a couple planes take off and land in the evening. Every single thing about our vacation was pure perfection! If you are considering booking this house, do not hesitate one more second! Do it! We consider our 19 nights at Blackwell Branch Cabin one of our best vacations ever! Thank you, Linda and Jorge, for the serene, relaxing getaway! We were so sad to leave but can’t wait to return!

Beautiful NC mountains!

Tusquittee Creek

Beautiful NC mountains! What a wonderful stay in the beautiful NC mountains! Blackwell Branch Cabin, nestled among hardwoods and mountain laurel, provided the perfect place for our family to unplug for a few days. The sound of the creek out back lulled away the distractions of “real life.” The hosts overflowed with a spirit of hospitality providing a personal welcome, local recommendations, fresh flowers, and sweet treats upon arrival. The cabin was immaculate…the cleanest home we’ve ever rented. Bring your fishing gear, a deck of cards, a book or two and get off the grid! You’ll be glad you did!!!

Flowing Creek Right In Backyard

There is a flowing creek right in your backyard in this home situated in the beautiful North Carolina mountains. There are many things to do in the surrounding area and the property owners were great about suggesting activities we might enjoy as a family. We had a great time!

Cabin in Great Location

Cabin in a great location – The cabin was in a great location. Very clean upon arrival and had everything we could have needed. Linda made check-in and the run-through of the property quick and simple. Would definitely recommend to any nature lovers!

Right On The Creek

Big Laurel Falls

Right on the creek – it was a wonderful experience! We recommend it to anyone who wants a getaway. The house has everything one might need and more. It was also super clean. Although it rained all the days we were there we still enjoyed the house with the view. Linda went above and beyond to make sure we were well taken care of! We will definitely stay there again.

We Couldn’t Have ASked For A Better Place

DeSoto Falls frozen

We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay! This trip was great. The cabin was wonderful and the owners were super friendly. In the cabin you will find a folder with all sorts of information of the area. If it’s not in the folder just text Linda or Jorge and they reply very promptly. We couldn’t have asked for a better, cleaner or more well-equipped place to stay. One thing that was a little spotty was the internet, but in the mountains I guess that is normal especially after a big snowstorm.

Favorite Vacation Ever

Chinquapins ice cream parlor

Favorite vacation ever! The kids have called it their favorite vacation ever! We loved the beautiful creek front cabin in Hayesville. Linda was wonderful to communicate with, she had tons of suggestions for activities & more, and promptly answered emails and texts. She greeted us upon arrival and explained the basics to us. There were welcome goodies for us & the kids. We had our 2 small pups with us and they had dog treats waiting as well. Linda is an experienced dog sitter & helped us immensely by letting the dogs out on the one day we were gone for many hours. Can’t say enough good things about the beautiful property, playhouse, fire pit, creek and cozy home. We hope to make it back next year and maybe bring family to rent their other nearby cabin. PS Special thanks to Jorge for giving our car a jump the morning we departed! (Apparently even our car didn’t want to leave) 🙂

Scenery Was Stunning!

Tusquittee Creek

Scenery was stunning! My husband and I stayed for a long weekend at Blackwell Branch Cabin. We enjoyed every minute of it! Linda was very welcoming and showed us around the cabin and property when we arrived. The cabin was absolutely spotless and had everything you could possibly need. The scenery around us was stunning as well and the sound of the creek was so peaceful. We enjoyed sitting on the porch drinking coffee and just listening to the creek. Our sweet pup enjoyed his time as well! We always love when we can find a place allowing dogs! Overall, this was a fantastic stay and we will definitely be back!

Perfectly located Perfectly Clean Perfectly Relaxing

Big Laurel Falls

Perfectly located!  We have stayed at lots of vacation rentals over the years and this very quickly became our favorite. Why? In short, it’s perfect. Perfectly relaxing. Perfectly clean. Perfectly located. Perfectly outfitted. We parked our car when we arrived on Thursday and didn’t get in it again until we left on Sunday. We spent our time enjoying the cabin and its surroundings. Our daughter loved the playhouse, the creek and walking to the pond and cows. Linda and Jorge are wonderful hosts that have truly put a lot of thought into creating a great getaway. We are already looking at dates for our next visit. Highly highly recommend!

Fantastic Views

Old barn

Fantastic views! Lovely property with lots of fantastic views, tons of places to sit back and enjoy a quiet, relaxing afternoon with a book. Big fire pit to enjoy an evening roasting marshmallows and sharing conversation with friends and family. The home is open and warm, very clean and the property manager has thought of just about everything for the visit. There was something for everyone and special attention to detail for our kiddos. Whom also quite enjoyed the playhouse! Would definitely come back again.

Views Are Gorgeous

The views are gorgeous. And so is the cabin.  House spotless. Very sanitized. Linda, was great. Linda greeted us with her mask on. Furniture and Beds very comfortable. Lots of water for your pleasure. Nice fire pit just steps from water. Just one thing if you have a boat you will need to find storage (nowhere to park a boat). We found a great storage just 2 miles to lake. Thank you again, Linda for making my Birthday vacation so great.

Hosts Go Above And Beyond

Tusquittee Creek

Hosts Linda and Jorge go above and beyond – they are excellent hosts and do everything to make your stay comfortable. The property is really special- if a pet friendly, waterfront private vacation rental is what you require, this is it! The cabin has lots of charm, neat as a pin and has everything you need. Already looking forward to another stay!

Creek Was Awesome

Tusquittee Creek

The creek was awesome!  We rent a cabin in the mountains every Labor Day weekend. We were very pleased with this cabin and location- very clean, well maintained, and the creek was awesome. Our kids enjoyed the playhouse, playing in the creek, catching critters and fishing in the pond. We’ll be back!

Exceeded Expectations In Every Way

Tusquittee Creek

This stay exceeded expectations in every way! A wonderful location away from everything except nature. This stay exceeded expectations in every way and was the best so far. Thank you so much Linda and Jorge for sharing your paradise with us! Absolutely loved it, as did the kids. Hoping to stay again.

Treat Yourself To A Retreat

Big Laurel Falls

Treat Yourself to The Perfect Retreat! This cabin was so perfect to rid us of the cabin fever at home in Florida!! Our reservation was made in January and the NC lock down was lifted on May 8th so we were able to come up and are so happy we did. Linda and Jorge are gracious hosts and they always go the extra mile to make our stay wonderful. We have vacationed in homes all over GA, NC and TN and we have now stayed in both Gili’s Cove Cottage and Blackwell Branch Cabin (both owned by Linda and Jorge). These cabins are the cleanest places we have ever seen and they have such an attention to detail in their cleaning as well as the nice touches of fresh flowers. They are very accommodating with pets and will even provide dog bowls and towels if you forget yours at home. If you need a break from everyday life, Hayesville is just the place to relax and recharge. The stunning beauty of the area and the friendly people will make you want to stay forever!

We have vacationed in homes all over GA, NC and TN and we have now stayed in both Gili’s Cove Cottage and Blackwell Branch Cabin (both owned by Linda and Jorge). The stunning beauty of the area and the friendly people will make you want to stay forever!
We visited several places during this trip since the wilderness is never closed! The State park bathroom facilities were closed due to COVID-19, so keep that in mind and bring supplies if you venture outdoors and watch out for poison ivy!! We made the most of it and fished for trout at Fires Creek Picnic area and Hiawassee River off of Tusquittee Creek Rd with great success. They have nice big trout in the streams around Clay County. We spent some time at Wayah Bald (amazing place), ate a picnic lunch at Wilson Lick Ranger Station and walked about a mile on the trail of Rufus Morgan Trail & Falls. We went mountain biking at the Jack Rabbit Trailhead which was both exhilarating and exhausting at the same time. We drove out toward Highlands, NC and stopped at Bust Your Butt Falls and walked right under Dry Falls! Dry Falls will blow your mind if you have never seen it! The parking area there is small, but well worth the effort or any wait time! None of the restaurants were open inside, but we picked up an amazing dinner at the Motor Company Grill in Franklin, NC and ate at Wesley’s Park next to the Little TN River. The food there is amazing and worth every extra penny! We also took a drive to Helton Creek Falls, GA and enjoyed the scenery along the way as well as the falls. My son and his friend even jumped in and swam to the base of the upper fall. The water was freezing , but boys will be boys even when they are young adults!
Overall we had an amazing time in NC this year and we will continue to go back to stay in any cabin that Linda & Jorge have available! They are both a treasure to our family and we look forward to our next visit!!

Small Touches Everywhere !

Trilium wildflowers

We loved the small touches everywhere! Thank you so much for letting us enjoy your cabin. We rent cabins often and yours by far has been the most hospitable. The small touches everywhere, from the fresh flowers to the treats for the children, were beautiful and so thoughtful. We so enjoyed our family time here and we didn’t want to leave.

Our Kids Loved Playing IN The Creek

Tusquittee Creek

Our kids loved laying in the creek. We LOVED our trip to Blackwell Branch Cabin! My husband and I came with our four children for a much needed family get away after Quarantine. The house was immaculately clean and beautifully decorated. Linda is the most gracious host and even surprised us with fresh picked strawberries from the farmers market one afternoon while we were playing in the creek. There were special treats for each child when we checked in and we brought our 3-month-old puppy and she even supplies us with a kennel, bedding and gates. We travel as a family often and this was by far the most welcoming home we have stayed in. Our kids LOVED playing in the creek and the playhouse, fishing in the pond, and having S’mores by the fire at night. Mom and Dad enjoyed relaxing on the deck with a drink a good book. We highly recommend this property and it’s generous owners!

Nestled On The Most Beautiful Property

Big Laurel Falls

The cabin was nestled on the most beautiful property, with a playhouse for the kids and a walkable creek for the kids to play in. The sounds of the rushing creek outside the door. It was just the relaxation we needed during this time in our current climate. We were greeted by Linda who showed us around and made sure we had everything we needed. The house was clean and a perfect fit for our family of 5. The hospitality that Linda and Jorge showed us was unmatched. I can’t say enough about our stay here. We will definitely be back!

Family and dog friendly!

Linda and Jorge’s cabins are wonderfully appointed. They were very clean and Linda has literally thought of everything. She had coffee, filters, salt, paper, starter paper products, and garbage bags for the kitchen. The Tree House was a wonderful place for the children to play and explore their imaginations. Our family enjoyed walks on their private road and took Linda’s tips on local hikes and went on Jack Rabbitt Trail along nearby Lake Chatuge. The cabin was extremely pet friendly! Linda provided a crate for our Boston Terrier so we didn’t have to bring one with us. She provided furniture covers along with water and food bowls for Georgie. We had fresh fruit and snacks provided upon our arrival and little treats for our dog and children. It was Nordstrom/Chick-fil-a type customer service. Top of the line. I highly recommend either of Linda and Jorge’s cabins.

Waterfront Cabin Nothing Shy Of Amazing

Tusquittee Creek

Waterfront cabin – This place is nothing shy of amazing! My husband and I were in much need of a quiet and peaceful short vacation. The cabin was so clean and everything I feel was laid out to fit our needs. We had fresh flowers, chocolate covered strawberries, and sparking cider. Was such a personal touch considering we were there on Valentine’s weekend. And the amazing tree house……..our 12 year old was in heaven. It was like this place was made for us!! We love the mountains and how we feel like we can take a deep breath. The creek sound is so relaxing and even in the winter months we sat outside just to listen to the nature. We will be back for sure!!! I have never been to a place where I have felt so at home!!!!!

Fishing In The Stream

We enjoyed fishing in the stream and roasting marshmallows in the fire pit at night. We enjoyed everything about this cabin. There was enough room for the six of us – 3 adults and three children. There was a bed for each of us. We had a wonderful time — we enjoyed the quiet and peaceful atmosphere. We lvoed it and would definitely return again. Thank you for the great place for us to bond as a family!

Riverside Home- Wonderful

Incredibly wonderful riverside home!  We had a most wonderful stay at Blackwell Cabin.   I can’t say enough to describe how incredibly wonderful this home is. My husband, two boys and I wanted to get away from the city and enjoy the outdoors; it was everything we were looking for and more!! From the moment we drove up, we were engulfed by the beauty and peacefulness of this hidden gem. This house has everything you could possibly need while on vacation. The owners, Linda and George were wonderful and very responsive to any questions we had. The house is thoughtfully furnished and equipped with all of the essentials to make your stay pleasant and worry free. It is not too far from the supermarket, restaurants and many wonderful outdoor activities, yet the house is tucked away from the main road so that you have complete privacy and are surrounded by nature. My two boys, 3 & 5 years old enjoyed running around the garden, throwing pebbles in the creek, playing in the treehouse and fishing in the pond. Linda and George were the perfect hosts. We can’t wait to be back again! Dates of stay: Aug 04-08, 2019

Just Bring Your Groceries !

Tusquittee Creek

Just bring your groceries!  The cabin is very comfy and well-stocked. If you’re looking for a peaceful mountain getaway this is the place. Ms Linda, the owner, met us there when we arrived and gave us a tour and very useful information about the area. We’ve rented in the mountains for the last four years and never met the owners so this was a pleasant and appreciated change.  The property and views are gorgeous. We caught fish in the pond and even saw a buck chase a doe through the yard one morning. We spent Thanksgiving there and ordered a turkey dinner from the Ingles deli in Hayesville (only about 15 minutes away) and everything was awesome. So even though the cabin feels isolated you’re only a few minutes from town. We didn’t want to leave and plan to book again. Thank you Ms Linda for everything!

Didn’t Want To Leave

We had such a wonderful time and didn’t want to leave. We were talking about coming back to one of your cabins from the time we first arrived. We hope y’all have a great week and hope to see y’all again soon. Thank you for having us!!

Amazing Time On The Creek

Tusquittee Creek

We had an amazing time on the creek ! My husband booked this trip for me for my birthday. The location and view of the creek was fantastic. The cabin was beautiful and well equipped. The owners were nearby and answered any questions we had about the cabin and surrounding area. Loved setting on the back porch watching nature and listening to the bubbling creek. Owners added special touches that made you feel welcomed and appreciated. Thanks for the wonderful vacation, we plan to come back again!

River On Property Is Beautiful

The river on the property is just beautiful! The property is just as described – even better! Very clean! The property owner Linda was very accommodating and even let my family come a day early due to the hurricane in Florida. They also left delicious peaches and locally-made treats and crackers. Thank you so much!

Serenity Of Nature

Serenity of nature … Thank you for your wonderful cabin! We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay and relaxing at the great creek right in the back yard. The serenity of nature was so sublime. Complete Relaxation

Tusquittee Creek

Complete relaxation ! If you are looking for a place to go for complete relaxation and tranquility look no further. This house is located in a very small quiet town. The house is super clean and has many extra amenities like soap for washing your clothes, coffee, spices, extra toilet paper, etc. Linda is a wonderful host and had special treats for the kids which was super sweet.

Secluded Off The Road

Trilium wildflowers

Secluded off the road, surrounded by nature with a private creek. This super clean well appointed cabin has large windows and 2 sets of French doors letting in light and the surrounding beauty. The wrap around deck has plenty of room and an outside grilling/eating area. Linda was very helpful and knowledgeable of all the latest happenings in the area. The hammock is highly recommended for an afternoon siesta! We weren’t able to use the fire pit this time because of rainy evenings, but it is perfectly situated and plenty of firewood is available. Our 2 daughters loved the claw foot tub and WiFi, lol. I especially enjoyed the kitchen that has everything you need. We’d love to return, John and Maureen

Property was really nice. We loved our stay. The cabin was perfect and the property was really nice. We enjoyed walking in the creek and visiting the pond. The owners thought of everything and provided lots of great info about the area. We plan on coming back.

Well-Stocked Perfect Cabin

Trilium wildflowers

Cabin was perfect, with beautiful creek in a private location, only a few miles to Hayesville and their friendly local residents. Very clean, well-stocked, and beautiful cabin. Very comfortable beds and living area. All appliances and hi-speed internet worked! And did I mention clean? Never saw a person except during check-in. The hatchery-supported creek provided lots of fun for the 7 year-old, good fishing, and a perfect backdrop at night to put you to sleep. The fire-pit was a nice place to sit in the evening and roast a few marshmallows and laugh with the kids. And the wrap-around deck was perfect all day long with. We’ll definitely be back.

Cabin Was Immaculate

The cabin was immaculate! We felt perfectly at home. We loved the creek and the large deck. The kitchen was well stocked with tools and pans for us to cook many meals while staying there. We look forward to returning! Linda, our stay exceeded our expectations! Thank you!

A Perfect Place

My husband and I and our little dog just loved our stay at Blackwell Branch Cabin in Hayesville, NC. The cabin was totally immaculate and comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped with every possible necessity right down to foil paper and salt and pepper! The large dining table (with a gorgeous view of the surrounding private land) would be a great place for family bonding and we enjoyed it as a tranquil respite. There is also another smaller table that we used for our computers/tablets. The deck is fantastic and the view of the creek and pond beyond are fabulous. Our little dog loved being out on the gated deck where he was safely contained without a leash and he could run back and forth chasing the tennis balls we threw. The bed was very comfortable and the owners, Linda and Jorge, are wonderful to do business with. They made themselves readily available if we needed anything but were not the least bit intrusive even though they live close by. We enjoyed the fire pit in the evenings and saw deer and turkey several times. We will definitely be staying there again and we definitely will recommend it to family and friends. It is the perfect “get away” place.

Well-Appointed VRBO s

Trilium wildflowers

From beginning to end, we could not have been more pleased with the cabin and it’s owners. One of the most well-appointed VRBO’s we’ve rented (we started booking through VRBO in 2000), with comfortable furnishings and BEAUTIFUL surroundings. Linda met us upon arrival and showed us around the cabin and the property, and even had a treat for us to enjoy. It was nice to know the owners were nearby in case we needed anything. The creek was lovely & cool and the property is lush with foliage. The cabin is only about an 8 minute drive from town; easy to find our way with GPS or Linda’s directions, and easy access to dining, groceries, and gas. The Hayesville area is located near numerous outdoor activities and we had fun exploring. We took the scenic drive to Bryson City to ride the Smoky Mountain Railroad with a great lunch in a climate-controlled car and beautiful scenery to enjoy. We also followed Linda’s tips for walking trails near Lake Chatuge. The cabin is within an hour or two of state & national parks, scenic drives, and interesting towns. You will not be disappointed whether you’re looking for some R&R or a place to explore from. We will definitely be back one day!

We Had A Magical Time!

We had a magical time on the creek! The cleanliness of the cabin was superior and contained everything we needed. We did leave to hike one day but almost wish we hadn’t and had spent more time on the cabin property. We loved exploring the creek and hanging out in hammocks! The fireflies and stars were amazing at night.

Don’t Miss This Gem !

Gili's Cove Cottage

Don’t miss this gem!  I almost don’t want to tell anyone about this special place, but that would be unfair! It was so well kept, clean and comfortable. The creek is absolutely beautiful as are the other surroundings. Close to many things… but tucked away. Linda and Jorge are wonderful hosts.

Sounds All Around From Nature

This Cabin was absolutely beautiful and so full of amenities unlike anything I have ever experienced. The Owner was very kind and helpful to us as we were late getting there. We loved sitting on the back porch and enjoying the running creek and the sounds all around from nature. Just wish we could have stayed longer hope to go back soon. If you are looking for a place to stay please call them!!!

Amazing House

This house has amazing views, very spacious, comfortable, & well stocked with all the extras including the kitchen. . You just bring yourself!! This is one of the best rentals hands down. Linda is the perfect landlord and always leaves yummy appetizers & flowers upon arrival. She will even walk your dogs or provide kennels. I highly recommend either of her vacation rentals. She is a true gem to work with & very helpful. Thank you! We will return.

The Cabin Was Perfect

blackwell branch cabin

We had a great stay at the Creek Cabin. It was centralized for any direction we wanted to go for day trips. The kids enjoyed the tree house, creek and seeing everyday a new baby calf was born in the cow pasture. The cabin was perfect for all 6 of us (2 adults and 4 children). Linda was pleasantly accommodating to us and we knew if we needed anything she would be there. Thank you Linda for everything.

The Cabin Was Perfect, Very Clean and Homey

blackwell branch cabin

My family visited for a few days for Spring Break and I cannot say enough positive about the Cottage, the location and especially Linda and Jorge. The cabin was perfect and very clean and homey feeling. We enjoyed the fire pit right on the creek and being outside and just walking in the area. It was a wonderful location to just disconnect from everything and relax. Linda and Jorge are right there within walking distance should you need anything. I highly recommend either rental and we will definitely be back for a visit.

Best Vacation Experiences

Joyce Kilmer Forest

One of the best vacation experiences we’ve ever had, Linda and Jorge are excellent persons, on top of every detail and communicating about everything we would need, even before our trip.  The cabin was impeccable, clean and comfortable, with every necessity for a perfect stay.  The whole property was beautiful and perfect for relaxing.  Frankly, everything was better than we expected.  We will have no reservations about recommending it to our friends and family.  Thank you, Linda and Jorge.*

Fantastic Location Was Excellent

Blackwell Branch Cabin

Fantastic! The location was excellent, the cabin immaculate and the owners extremely helpful. Made the trip with my parents, daughter and son in law as well as 2 pups. Plenty of room for all of us. The pups had a great time in the yard while we enjoyed the fire pit. My father is on nocturnal dialysis so the downstairs bedroom and bathroom worked out perfectly and they were thrilled to be able to join us. I would definitely be considering this beautiful location again in the future.

Very peaceful setting. Great location and very relaxing spot. Cabin has everything you need and loved hanging out at the fire pit beside the creek. Thanks!!

What A Peaceful Perfect Hidden Treasure

Scott & Teresa

What a peaceful perfect hidden treasure! This cabin was so perfect, spotlessly clean and comfortable. The owners live just a close enough to keep up with and care for everything but I didn’t see them except when needed. Linda gave us a very thorough but quick tour of the home and surroundings and all directions and communication is written out and very plain as well as surrounding sites to see and things to do. They obviously care for and about the home, property, the natural surroundings, and have made every effort to be sure that it is a comfortable place for their guests to just relax.

Tusquittee Creek runs behind the cabin and makes just enough noise. We saw deer, beavers, lots of birds. You could stay at the cabin and never see anyone if you want, because they have all the amenities and thought of everything you might need from coffee maker, toaster, to baking dishes and utensils. But it is close enough (minutes) to the very quaint town of Hayesville to get groceries, go out for dinner, or antique shopping or just drive around and admire the mountain views. It was a great place to celebrate our 40th anniversary!

Serenity Lane – My Home Away From Home

Siler Bald

Serenity Lane – my home away from home… This was our second time staying at the Blackwell Branch Cabin. You turn onto the road and you immediately start to feel your troubles melt away. The property is so beautiful and if I were to purchase my own cabin one day, I would look for the combination of natural features this land has to offer. The creek is peaceful and you can hear it throughout the cabin. Creekside fire pit and firewood provided. The hammock was a nice addition and allowed you to get up close and personal with the creek. Even just walking through the neighborhood near the pasture, airstrip and on up the road is so beautiful.

We are hikers and the property is pretty convenient to hiking in the Nantahala National Forest. Additionally, Linda and Jorge are the nicest most attentive owners I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. They pay attention to every detail. We had our dog with us this time and they even left her a cute gift bag of treats and had water and food bowls all laid out ready for our arrival. They live right next door and can assist you with anything you could possibly need. I can’t wait to return again to this magical place I now call my home away from home. Thanks for a great time and opening your house to us.

I’d Give It 10 Stars If I Could!

BBC back deck

The pictures online don’t do this property justice! The grounds are beautiful and secluded. The creek is just a few steps away from the back deck. I loved being able to look out the large French doors to see the water flowing by while at the dinner table. Our family enjoyed a very relaxing week and Linda was a gracious host. Literally everything we could have needed was provided. (crockpot, hammock, laundry detergent, etc.) The houses was VERY clean as well. My 2 1/2 year old was in awe of the large playhouse and would have spent the whole week up there if she could. There was even a little welcome treat waiting for her when we arrived. Highly recommend booking this property and looking forward to returning.

One Of Our Best Vacations Ever

Lake Chatuge

Thank you card

This family came to our little corner of the mountains for a late-summer getaway prior to the start of their daughter’s senior year of high school. And while they were here, they learned that she had been selected for the varsity cheer-leading squad – a big event in the lives of this wonderful family. And definitely something to cheer about!
They wrote:
“Don’t even know how to thank you for one of our best vacations ever, we all had an amazing time, especially Piper 🙂  The cabin was pristine and all the extras were wonderful! We fished, we swam, we hiked, we kayaked and we RELAXED!! We are already looking forward to our next visit!”  (note– Piper is the family’s awesome chocolate Lab)

There were even treats for the dogs!

The porch is lovely. This house is very clean and neat. A fire pit was surrounded by several benches and plenty of dry wood was provided. There are many little touches which made this special: bowl of local produce, fresh flowers in a vase, folder with much information, granola that was locally made. There were even treats for the dogs!

Perfect In Every Way!

Perfect in every way– a great vacation. Our entire stay went so smoothly from easy communication with Linda to finding it and loving the seclusion. I can’t say enough about the cleanliness of entire property. It’s nice to walk in to all being ready for you. There were things to do in Hayesville, but plenty at cabin to enjoy. We needed more time to collect rocks and enjoy the stream on the side, relax to river in front of the deck. There was plenty of towels and games and anything we could possibly need. I can’t say enough about what a perfect time we had at the cabin. You aren’t in a rental gated community but over a bridge on a little dead end road to feel far from city life and enjoy the country. Thank you Linda for fabulous memories to take home with us. Everything was simply wonderful.

Laurin L.

Absolutely Amazing !

I had a group of 4 kids and my husband and I, we had all the room we could ever need. The creek was the highlight as you can imagine. The kids played in it the entire time. It was a bit cold naturally but for the young’ns it didn’t bother them during the 90 degree weather. Our fur babies loved the outside deck complete with gates so that we could all relax!! Ms. Linda and Jorge literally thought of everything when stocking the cabin. I had left my blow dryer at home and after looking around they had one. The kitchen was so well thought out when it came to supplies, it even had frosted mugs in the freezer for a good cold beer. We had a few hiccups but it was quickly cleared up. All my family and friends are ready to rent this gorgeous property. Thank you for a relaxing and wonderful vacation!!

Gorgeous Smokies/Appalachian Getaway

girl with fish

We are a family of 4 with children 8 and 10 years old, and all 4 of us give this house 5 stars! We fished in the creek (and caught trout), walked to feed the donkey and the bull, cruised to nearby creeks (Fires Creek was a favorite), and both cooked and ate locally. We visited the local goat cheese maker, Donna, who was lovely. There is plenty to do in the area (Hayesville has nice local music, etc), and plenty of relaxing to do right there on Tusquittee Creek. It is a truly beautiful setting and terrific house. The house is better than advertised (pics don’t do it justice), cozier and everything just as you would want it. Super beds, shower, bathtub, and anything you could want in the kitchen (hand mixer, birthday candles, plastic dishes for outside, etc). Linda is absolutely accommodating. Can’t say enough good about this spot!! We arrived from Nashville via Cleveland but drove home via the Cherohala Parkway in order to visit Joyce Kilmer Forest on the way home and had gorgeous trips both ways.

True Serenity

wildflowers in grass

My husband and I booked this cabin to celebrate our anniversary.  It was just what we needed.  Linda and Jorge have thought of everything you could need during your stay.  There was fresh fruit, cookies, cider and fresh flowers upon our arrival.  The upstairs bed was very comfortable and restful. The claw foot tub was wonderful also. The house was immaculate, very well taken care of.  The stream is mesmerizing and very relaxing.  We arrived tired and stressed but left very relaxed.  We hope to return soon!

Enchanting! Our stay at Blackwell Branch Cabin could not have been better. Our family of five was deeply pleased with the privacy and beauty of the wooded location, and we spent hours just enjoying the sounds and sights of the creek. The house is fitted with every amenity a person could need, from an excellent master bed mattress and silky sheets to the Band-Aids and sewing kit we actually utilized. Owner Linda Gonzalez is a delightful person and superb hostess, a master of detail, who provided us with maps and information about Clay County and the town of Hayesville, as well as restaurants, hiking trails, and day trips to surrounding towns and sights. And fresh flowers and fruit on arrival! We hope to return soon.

True Serenity!

If you are looking for Peace/Serenity…Look no further!  We can’t say enough about this wonderful vacation home! When you pull  up, you can see and hear the beautiful sounds of the creek rushing just a few feet away. Wow! The views of the mountains are breathtaking…Beautiful! Then you walk in to such a “clean” and relaxing home…it’s then that you realize…this is what a vacation is all about. Thank you Linda and Jorge for being so kind and going above and beyond. Thank you for sharing with us True Serenity. We will be back!

Magical! A Tiny Slice Of Heaven

dogs in water

We’ve booked many VRBO’s in the past, but none of them even come close to this magical home! Our hostess, Linda, was extremely accommodating from start to finish and her hospitality was above and beyond anything I’ve ever experienced before. She met us at the home and gave us a quick tour. There was a vase of fresh flowers, sparkling cider, some cookies, and even dog biscuits waiting for us. Each bathroom had a sweet bud vase filled with a fresh spray of tiny azaleas. The kitchen was well appointed with everything we needed, including a bag of treats for the local bull and donkey that inhabit the nearby cow pasture. The setting was something out of a dream. Set in a valley, at the base of a mountain, in an airy copse with numerous little trails that beg for exploration, there is a bubbling creek just off the back deck. Just beyond the creek is a serene pond filled with chatty geese, a resident heron, and swallows flying overhead. It’s the perfect spot for families with little ones to keep busy. I cannot say enough about the organization and cleanliness – the home was absolutely immaculate with plenty of linens. The deck furniture, benches surrounding the fire pit, and the charming playhouse were all beautifully, and lovingly maintained, with no evidence of spiders or bugs, which is incredible for outside furnishings. The playhouse was clearly designed with safety in mind. The gate at the top of the ladder only opens inward, assuring that little people can’t accidentally fall backwards through the gate. It has some toys inside, all of which are in good condition and kept very clean. Plus, there is electricity in the playhouse, so both levels have lights inside that make it a warm and welcoming space. There was a folder filled with local things to do. We took our dogs to the Chatuge Dam Trail for a nice walk. Then, we stopped by the Goldhagen Art Glass Studio & Gallery where we bought several pieces of art for our home. We met the artist and he and his assistant even gave us a demonstration of how they work and we got to see him blow several new pieces. It was a great and fun learning experience for our kids. Linda is a professional dog sitter who can watch your dogs while you are out and about, so there’s no need to rush home from outings. You can just relax and enjoy all the area has to offer.
I could go on and on… suffice to say that this is our new favorite home away from home and we hope to visit again very soon!

Loved Every Aspect Of The Cabin!

bridge winter

We had an absolute blast and loved every aspect of the cabin! The creek was definitely a major highlight as well as the details the owners put into the place. Everything you could possibly imagine is provided with care. The drive to the grocery store takes 15 minutes which proved to be quite easy to do. Also, the nearby Jack Rabbit trails are about 15 minutes away.  Mountains bikers would LOVE this area. We love it too, and decided to go back for a 2nd hike/walk. The AT trail can be found 30-45 minutes away, although we didn’t venture that far, so there might be an access point closer. Once we got to the cabin and had so much fun hanging out on the property we didn’t want to leave. In fact, after 5 nights, we didn’t want to leave at all.

Special Touches Throughout

Special touches throughout the home. Very comfortable, clean and private. It was cold outside but inviting inside. Nice touches throughout home and private. The water outside was beautiful as well as the grounds around the home. Coffeemaker and a blender! Clothes tree to hang coats was very nice.

Nature Created The Setting

Nature created the setting, but you all have added the frosting to the cake with all your thoughtful touches– the fresh fruit, flowers, etc. The cabin was so complete for our every need and the fall decor outside put a smile on our faces each time we returned.  You truly created a 5-star experience for us.  Thank you Linda and Jorge!

We Loved The Creek!

heart with flowers

We loved our week and the cabin.  We were sad to have to leave, we do want to come back and try Gili’s Cove Cabin too.  Thank you so much for an amazing week.  The cabin was immaculately clean and so enjoyable.  As we ate breakfast, one morning we watched 5 deer come down to the creek.  Thank you for the lovely flowers, kiss’s and the heart dish.  You made it so special for us.  It was truly so much more than we ever imagined for our honeymoon.  God bless you.  We will be returning, hopefully in the spring or fall.  We will be in touch. Thank you again.

Cozy Cabin Has All The Necessities

Serenity!  This cozy cabin has all the necessities for a relaxing get away. The full sized kitchen allowed us to prepare all of our meals right there, and there is also a gas grill if you want to cook out. The pond on the other side of the creek is the best fishing hole ever according to my dad! Fire pit great for roasting marshmallows, best s’mores ever also!!! Looking forward to our return.

The Cabin Is Right On The Creek

Comfortable and peaceful!  My kids, mother, sister and I stayed in the cabin over the weekend and I can’t say enough positive things about it. It was very clean, with comfortable furnishings, beds and plenty of space. The cabin is right on the creek so the kids were occupied all weekend between the water and the playhouse! Very beautiful place. Linda was very nice and helpful, and greeted us upon our arrival to show us around. We will definitely be back!

Very Nice Cabin And Nearby Stream

We stayed for the eclipse and we’re very happy that we did. Very nice cabin and nearby stream. All the comforts of home while being able to get away from it all. We had 5 adults, 2 kids, and 2 dogs and while that pushed things a bit, we we’re all still very comfortable (we brought up a pack-and-play for one of the kids).

One Of The Best Long Weekends We’ve Ever Had

dogs in water

We had one of the best long weekends we’ve ever had! So much so, we were talking on our home about our next stay with you. We fell in love with Blackwell Branch Cabin the minute we saw it. I swear I heard a little voice in my ear saying “Welcome Home” it was just that peaceful and tranquil. We just took care of it as though it was our own. Delila and Dory had such a splendid time playing and swimming in the creek and chasing stick.s It always makes me a bit giddy to watch them having such a good time. Thank you for helping us create some beautiful memories and we look forward to spending more time at Blackwell Branch in the future.  Also, thank you for being such a lovely hosts! Linda and Jorge made our trip go very smooth and easy-peasy and that meant so much to us!

Truly A Little Piece Of Heaven

Boy on tube in creek

This is our second trip to the creek and we are already planning our next. We absolutely love it in Hayesville. We’re a family of 6 and there was plenty of room inside and out. Our children tubed the creek for hours every day and caught many fish in the pond. We hiked a few falls too. Linda does an amazing job preparing the house with basic essentials and lots of extras (cookies, fresh fruits, fresh flowers), It’s truly a little piece of heaven.

Jen & Adam M.

Perfect For Kids…And Their Parents!

We stayed with 3 kids, ages 3 to almost 8. They absolutely loved the creek and the playhouse, and I enjoyed swinging in the hammock while the kids played in the creek! We also enjoyed walking over to feed the bull and the donkey, and we appreciated the little treats that Linda had waiting for all of us. The house is incredibly well stocked – firewood (no skewers, FYI), bug repellent, soap, a propane grill, laundry detergent, coffee and filters, etc. We took one visit to Fire Creek Falls but otherwise we didn’t leave the property for 3 days and never felt the need. We have stayed at many VRBO rentals, but this one is my new favorite!

A Gorgeous Place Nestled Into The Mountains

a gorgeous place nestled into the mountains. A beautiful scenic little town just 15 minutes away, but plenty to do at home if you stay in. Loved This Cabin!!!

blackwell branch cabin

We (hubby, two kids, two dogs, and myself) stayed at this awesome cabin for four nights. Linda and Jorge were excellent hosts and left the best welcome goodies for the whole family, including the dogs. The cabin is immaculate, comfy, and is fully stocked with everything one would need for cooking, laundry, etc. The best part is the amazing sight and sound of the creek in the back. The kids loved it and they especially loved feeding Bully and Roscoe the corn and carrots that Linda so graciously supplied. From the creek, to canoeing in the pond, to the amazing serenity that envelopes this property, this cabin is definitely at the top of our list! Would definitely return!!

Quietness And Serenity

Surrounded by God’s creation (and much hard work by the property owners).  Quietness and serenity. Beautiful, large creek – many places to walk and enjoy outdoors. Large decks for outside enjoyment. The cabin was stocked with everything you could possibly need for your home away. Pristine and organized. The owners have placed much thought in making this offering enjoyable and unforgettable.

We Do Not Want To Leave The Cabin!

hikers on road

Absolutely Wonderful! Linda and Jorge could not have been any better hosts! The cabin was exceptionally clean, comfortable, and equipped with everything needed to unplug and enjoy the beautiful stream and mountains. It was apparent throughout the stay that the hosts go the extra mile to think of everything. Our crew included my wife and I who are empty-nesters, along with my wife’s mother and our son who is in college. We when initially arrived, the hosts explained that they had discovered a small leak in the bathroom and had a plumber coming out the next day. They offered the other cabin, but we declined. The next day the plumber came and fixed the issue. The following day we received a nice card and gift certificate for our trouble. We did not expect it or want it, but it illustrates their commitment to making the stay as wonderful as possible. My wife and I do not want to leave the cabin! We are already planning our next visit.

Serenity On The Creek

Tusquittee Creek

Serenity Lane is definitely the perfect name for the road leading to the cabin. The setting is absolutely beautiful on the creek. We have stayed in numerous cabins in western North Carolina and north Georgia and Blackwell Branch Cabin is definitely one of our favorites that we would return to. The owners are very responsive and have thought of everything to make your stay comfortable. All you need to bring are some clothes and groceries! The mountains and pastureland in the surrounding Tusquittee community are gorgeous and the cabin is secluded but very easy to get to. It is very convenient to have the Ingles grocery store about 15 minutes away and the charming downtown’s of Hayesville and Murphy are not far away. We hope to move to the mountains in a few years and this is an area that we will definitely consider after staying here

Terry & Sherry J.

The Cabin Was Even Better Than I Had Imagined !

We enjoyed our four night stay very much! The cabin was very clean, tidy, had everything we could possibly need for cooking our meals. We relaxed on the porch/decks, the boys fished in the pond and even tried their hand at trout fishing in the creek!  We went to Fires Creek hiking–beautiful area. We will definitely be back…hopefully sooner rather than later! Linda & Jorge — y’all are the best!!! Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful cabin with us — we really enjoyed meeting you!

Perfect Getaway – Even In The Early Spring

blue flowers

Our three night stay at Blackwell Branch Cottage could not have been more ideal. Linda greeted us with not only a brief tour but a birthday balloon and treats for my husband whose 65 birthday we were celebrating. The cottage is sparkling and includes all amenities such as crisp linens, wifi, fresh flowers, and a great library. The creek is pristine and the bull and donkey in the nearby pasture are precious and friendly. Trillium and other native plants were blooming throughout the woodlands and the tended gardens around the cottage were just budding.
We will definitely return to the treasure. Our Springer spaniel, Scout, loved fetching sticks from the pond and barking at the livestock. We felt that she was a welcome guest as we were.

Amazing Property!

hiking boots

We needed a weekend getaway that was close to a trail that we were hiking on Sunday. This was the perfect place tucked back in the woods. My mood can only be described as giddy as I took in all the views from around the property. A great fire pit with endless wood is supplied. We took advantage of this both nights. Smores, brats on the fire, delicious…….all while viewing an endless clear sky of stars in the evening and listening to the relaxing creek a few yards away. The cabin is very open and allows for great views too. If you need more space, the house next door is also available to rent.
Linda is by far the most accommodating host I have ever seen. She met us when we got there, maps in hand and full of information about the area. She gave us this really nice gift basket with teas, cookies and a nice coffee mug, which I claimed (the others wanted it!). There is a small tavern 1/4 mile away, and we didn’t get a chance to go, but it looked like a really cute place with open deck and live music. We had to get up relatively early on Sunday morning and almost thought about canceling our hike just so we could stay at the cabin a couple more hours. It was definitely the highlight of the weekend. I will be back. In my mind I have claimed it as my own!

A Mountain Home Away From Home

pond winter blue sky

WOW!  My husband and I love the mountains, so we’ve stayed in our fair share of cabins…this is by far the BEST yet! So cozy and a beautiful property with all the amenities one can need for a weekend, a week or a month! Not to mention—completely spotless! The house was stocked with fresh linens, soaps, tons of dishes, FRESH flowers and lots of other little things that show exactly how much effort the owners put into this place. The creek outside is beautiful and the best part is that you can see it from almost every inch of the house. We loved the fire pit, gazing up at the millions of stars. I only wish we could have stayed longer. Linda & Jorge were so friendly & communicative and made for a smooth check-in and check-out.  Thank you for a great weekend – we hope to come back again someday soon!!

Love The Creek!

pond winter

Owner was very responsive and helpful during the booking process. When we arrived there was everything and more that we needed! She had treats for the kids and our two dogs along with a mug full of popcorn, hot cocoa and tea. The sound of the rushing creek behind the house was wonderful! The kids loved the playhouse. The only thing disappointing was there were no fish in the creek or the pond. My husband and I were hoping to do some fishing but it just didn’t work out. There also wasn’t a lot of hot water for baths or showers but I loved the claw foot tub, just wished I could have filled it with hot water. My husband has already recommended your place to a coworker. We are even thinking about returning when the weather is a bit warmer. Overall a good experience.

Owner’s Comments:
While at first we were a little disappointed that this guest gave us our first 4-star review, we decided to look a little further at what she wrote and see if we could learn something. And boy did we ever! Upon closer inspection of the plumbing and hot water heater in the cabin, we learned that the water heater was 20+ years old and indeed could not live up to the demands of filling the big soaking tub while a family’s regular activities (using washer, running dishwasher) were also taking place during a normal day’s activities. So… we expect to be installing a brand new, up-sized hot water heater in the cabin next week along with some other plumbing adjustments which should resolve the issue. Re. the pond and the creek – and the non-cooperating fish: Tusquittee Creek is a trout stream stocked by the NC Wildlife Resources Commission several times a year. We’ve seen guests and neighbors catch plenty of trout in the creek, but a fisherman-neighbor of ours surmised, with a twinkle in his eyes, that perhaps mid-January is not the best time of year to fish the creek– the fish are too busy trying to keep warm and so are the fishermen (mountain humor!). The pond, while not stocked, is home to bass and bluegill and we’ve had many guests spend delightful hours fishing there (catch and release), being rewarded with a nice size bass or bluegill. We’d love for this family to come back and try their luck again! One final note regarding this delightful young family– We’ve had our rental cabin and cottage for 2+ years now and while almost all of our guests leave the cabin cleaned up a bit, we can honestly say that when we checked the cabin after this family’s departure, you would never have known that a young family with four children under the age of 12 plus two dogs (gotta love those little dachshunds!) had ever spent a single minute there. It was immaculate! Everything was not only tidied up and all check-out instructions had been followed, the level of cleanliness and order in the cabin was astounding. So we want to again say thank you to this amazing family for choosing to stay with us and we’d be delighted to welcome them back any time.

Serenity Lane with snow

Loved the Casa on the Creek!  House wonderful. Had a very enjoyable long new years weekend. Very quiet alongside creek and pasture with long range mountain views. Everything we needed in kitchen, bathrooms and bedrooms. All well appointed and very clean. Welcome by owners who are very accommodating.

Treasure In The Woods

bridge winter

Our recent trip to Hayesville, North Carolina was not a pleasure trip. We were going for a sudden death in the family and had to scramble to find a place to stay-ASAP! We found Blackwell Branch Cabin online and it was available for our travel dates. Booking was simple and quick and we were on our way the next day!  The owner was there and warmly welcomed us on arrival! She gave us all the info we needed. She also left a folder with local information as well as check out information. What really caught my eye was that the pictures online didn’t do this cabin justice! The photos online were very nice, but the cabin is bigger than it looked!! It was very comfortable and yet cozy for our family of five. We had plenty of space for family to come by also! We enjoyed tic-tac-toe and checkers in our ‘down time’. It was Extremely cold during our visit, so we didn’t venture out much, but the creek in back looked and sounded wonderful!  Our family will definitely book this cabin for future trips!! It was beautiful! And meeting both owners was equally as nice! Very friendly and sincere!
We HIGHLY recommend Blackwell Branch Cabin!! 🙂

Great Cabin With Impressive Attention To Details

Great cabin with impressive attention to detail – from welcoming gifts to many supplies provided. Fully furnished and beautifully decorated with everything needed and then some. Great deck and yard. Nice location along creek in really fantastic mountain valley. Easy to get to and convenient to town.

Great Hospitality

Linda and Jorge were fabulous hosts, and went out of their way to make a celebratory weekend very special. We had a Saturday morning bonus as one of the local planes took to the air and did stunts right above the airfield! Very peaceful setting, super clean house, and great service by the owners.

Fabulously Perfect

Boy on tube in creek

Our family of 6 had a wonderful time. Our elementary aged boys played in the creek for hours, we fished in the pond, we played nerf gun wars, we roasted marshmallows, and hiked a few trails.  The cabin has all of the finishing touches of a bed and breakfast. It was amazingly clean, nicely updated while keeping the authenticity of a cottage. We were as comfortable at the cottage as we were at home.  Linda and Jorge are extremely hospitable and friendly. Linda knows the area and gives great recommendations.  Hoping to go back again soon!

Our Yearly, Must-Have, Wouldn’t-Miss Vacation Destination

road w-fall colors

Not only is Blackwell Branch Cabin our yearly fall vacation retreat, this cabin, this vacation, is sometimes a daily or weekly mental respite! My husband and I both literally think about this vacation spot when we’re having a tough day or a tough week. Knowing we have a reserved week every year is our way of telling ourselves, “It’ll all be okay soon. We’ll be in the mountains soon.”  The cabin and property are immaculately kept by Linda and Jorge, with plenty of porches for lounging and watching the creek, and plenty of green space for tossing a football or sitting by the fire. The cabins are spotless and well appointed with beautiful artistic touches throughout. With WiFi and streaming movies, you can have all the gadgets going that you want. But why would you want?   Linda is great with all communication, keeping me aware of any the weather or road conditions—going the extra mile is a signature Linda move.   And we love that the cabin is pet-friendly, but never looks like a pet has been there. It’s so clean and comfortable!  Thank you, Linda and Jorge, for creating a sanctuary for rest and re-connection with ourselves, each other, and God’s creation. There’s nowhere else for us in Hayesville!

The Gold Standard For Customer Service

Flowers on table

In full disclosure, I am a beach lover, not a mountain lover; the fact that a beach lover is already considering a return trip speaks volumes about this retreat. From the welcoming wrap around porch with multiple areas for gathering (rocking chairs on front porch, picnic table with gas grill on side porch, an artisan chair with stool and 2 tables on back porch) to the babbling creek that can be heard from anywhere outside, it feels like it’s welcoming you in. We loved having an old fashioned screen door and screens over each of the French doors ( 2 sets on each of 2 walls in the living area), that allowed the cool air to carry in the beautiful sound of the creek behind the cabin. Upstairs is a loft bedroom and a small bedroom with an adorable (comfortable) trundle bed; downstairs is the 3rd bedroom beside the 2nd bath (with the great clawfoot tub for soaking and option of turning on the dim light over the tub, only, we added a scented candle and some music…VOILA! instant spa). The crown jewel that makes this place stand out, however, is the unbelievable attentiveness by the owners, Linda and Jorge. We walked in to a fresh flower arrangement, arranged by the skilled Jorge. Each bathroom has a mini wall vase , each with it’s own arrangement. The kitchen is stocked with tea bags (both caffeinated and herbal), spices, flour, birthday candles, plastic wrap, aluminum foil, coffee, a bowl of fresh fruit and indulgent cookies. Has your jaw dropped, yet?? OURS did! There was a first aid kit, bug spray, scissors, tape, note pads, stain remover, etc…and a promise to try to provide anything that we needed that wasn’t there. We were just excited to have a large pantry space; we were stunned at all of the additional surprises. The best of the surprises, if you ask my 8 yr old, is the perfect yard for fairy searching…there is a stump with a “door” in the base and a perfect seat in the side for sitting and watching for incoming fairies. I think she enjoyed that as much as the “treehouse/playhouse” with the loft area and the best view on the lot from the playhouse porch. The ladder to the playhouse has been modified and converted to steps; with handrails on each side, even my 74 yo mom was able to ascend the ladder to the playhouse. For me, the best treat was having a daytime fire in the firepit to thaw my toes out after wading in the creek. As my daughter said, “Don’t tell everybody about it; it’ll be too busy for us to get to come back!”

Wonderful Attention To Detail And Super Clean!

Our stay was way too short (long weekend) to really enjoy this awesome location! Linda is the only cabin owner we have ever rented from who met us upon arrival.even though it was close to 8pm, just to walk us through and show us where to find towels, light switches, etc. the cabin was immaculate and I was so thankful we were able to bring our dogs. Towels to wipe paws and food bowls were even provided and baby gates to keep them where we wanted. The river was too low to fish, but I imagine when it’s full that would be great right in the back yard. We watched a Netflix movie with our account and the Wi-Fi worked smoothly. There was a wedding at the airfield which meant we had live music on Saturday night from the deck which was nice by campfire. It was very private and nicely decorated. Great touches such as fresh fruit, local maps, and a welcome gift with cookies my husband immediately dove into after the long drive. Great spot with dogs and the enclosed deck was the perfect place to relax and enjoy morning coffee or an after-dinner drink. My small dog did manage to squeeze through the deck slats to chase a squirrel but if your dogs are bigger (or not inclined to chase a squirrel) there should be no problem with that. Thankfully I don’t think anyone spotted me chasing after him in my pjs! We don’t have kids, but the treehouse seemed too cute to not check out. I wish we had brought friends with kids because it was so amazingly done and very much a place any kid would want to hang out and play for hours with their friends! Overall, this was a 5 star stay, I would highly recommend it for couples, families with kids, people with well-behaved and clean dogs, there was way more room than we could use. The rates were extremely reasonable and we booked fairly last minute. Linda was extremely responsive. Great for cooking your own meals and close enough to town to venture out also. Would rent from Linda and Jorge again in a heartbeat. Thank you!

Peaceful Stay In The Mountains On A Beautiful Stream

Tusquittee Creek

My wife and I, son and granddaughter spent three lovely nights at the Blackwell Branch Cabin for Labor Day weekend 2016. We had a wonderful time in this quaint cabin located on a bold creek. While we didn’t catch any trout from the stream, my son caught nine nice bass from the pond on the property. We had a nice fish fry and took some home. Yum!  The cabin was very comfortable and clean and was enjoyed by all. The location was great as we toured some of the nearby attractions. The kitchen was well stocked with all our needs.  The owners, Linda and Jorge, were great host and were very helpful with all our questions.  We recommend this stay to future travels who are looking for a peaceful stay in the mountains on a beautiful stream. We look forward to a return visit some day

Great Cabin In A Fantastic Setting!

We stayed in the Blackwell Branch cabin for three nights after being forced to evacuate our home on the coast in SC. The setting next to the creek was perfect. The cabin was clean, comfortable, and very tastefully decorated, with every amenity you could want. The playhouse was so much fun for my 3 year old daughter and we loved going for morning and afternoon walks along the creek.  Linda and Jorge are awesome people who were so gracious and welcoming to my family during a stressful time. Cannot wait to stay there again.

A Beautiful Peaceful Spot Away From It All

creek rocks

A beautiful peaceful spot, away from it all, but convenient to necessities like grocery.  We had a great time relaxing at the Blackwell Branch cabin by the stream. It was exactly as advertised, plus some nice surprises like fruit, fresh flowers and cookies when we arrived! Linda took great care with all details, including providing info on local activities, a quick tour of the house upon arrival, prompt replies to any emailed or phoned questions, and stocking many unexpected supplies like paper towels and a sewing kit. The linens were a-plus, as were all kitchen accouterments. I really enjoyed the tasteful, low-key decor, comfortable couch and the wrap-around deck. The house was super-clean and welcoming. I would highly recommend renting this affordably-priced, beautiful cabin, which would be lovely in any season.

Loved Being Surrounded By All The Trees

Forest w-green trees

We were able to spend a month at Blackwell cabin. Loved being surrounded by all the trees with the rushing creek out back. Spent many hours on the wrap around porch from early morning til late in the evening. Fishing in the pond, playing in the creek. Watching the small planes take off and land close by. Very cool. Walking up to see the bull and the donkey and the sunset over the mountains nightly.  The house is very comfortable and spacious . Linda And Jorge are very friendly and helpful always answering any questions or just passing by and saying hello. Loved all the personal and special touches they’ve added to the house to make you feel welcome.  Can’t forget to add there is a huge firepit for cooking s’mores or hotdogs add in a little storytelling and for the youngsters or young at heart a two story tree house.
Loved walking over at the dam a short drive away. Checked out several waterfalls with High Shoals being our favorite hike.
Looking forward to our next trip back.

Wonderful Stay In The Forest!

Boogerman Trail

We had an absolutely wonderful stay in the forest! The kids had a great time splashing in the creek that runs behind the house and the older ones enjoyed canoeing and fishing in the nearby lake. Our little dog had fun swimming after the ducks in the pond ( of course she never did catch up to them). The house was very nice and neat with lots of open space, loved the wrap around porch where we had breakfast and coffee in the cool mornings. We had fun making smores in the outdoor fire pit. The little ones had a great time playing in the tree house. I can’t say enough about how helpful Linda and Jorge were. Linda provided bedding and a kennel for our little dog, so even she got the special treatment. I highly recommend a stay here and hope our family can make it back next year.

Nestled On a Wooded Lot With A Lovely Creek

Forest w-green trees

I would highly recommend this property to any prospective rentals. The house is lovely and beautifully decorated. We were there with 8 and had plenty of room. It was incredibly neat and clean! It is nestled on a wooded lot with a lovely creek running at the back of the property. You could stay here and not see another person for your entire stay. It was incredible for my two 3 year old grandsons as there is a two-story playhouse and they just loved playing in it. We spent two early evenings just throwing rocks in the creek and the boys just loved it. There is an amazing deck/porch on 3 sides of the house that was perfect for that morning cup of coffee or a place to unwind at the end of the day. We chose to see a lot of the area and loved everything we saw/did. The pictures posted on this site are very accurate and the owners were wonderful to work with. Linda was amazing before, during and after our stay. We chose to do horseback riding at Chunky Gal stables and it was the highlight of our trip. We loved the BBQ restaurants and the new, large grocery store in town. We enjoyed our trip over to the John C. Campbell Folk School and found the gift store to be amazing. There are some great little shops along the way and a place to buy grass fed beef for cooking on the grill. We also loved hiking the JackRabbit trails… all levels and distances. In summary, we loved this place and our only regret is that we hadn’t made plans to stay longer. Thank you for sharing this special corner of the world with us.

Lovely Cabin By The Creek

Tusquittee Creek

Lovely cabin by the creek – furnished with everything you’d need – a delightful place!  Linda provided a beautiful cabin, fully furnished with plates, cups, towels, sheets, and everything else you could want in a home. Open the doors and hear the delightful sound of the creek flood into the house – the screen doors keep out any bugs but let in the beautiful sound.  Very near the beautiful towns of Murphy and Hayesville, but the house provides spectacular mountain vistas all on its own. You get woods (surrounding the house), water (the creek and the pond just outside) and mountains (visible and definitely can drive to) all in one!
My family definitely wants to come back here soon!

It Doesn’t Get Any Better Than This!

Sheltie dog

We have been VRBO renters for many years now and have stayed at many places in the NC, N. GA area. There were not enough stars in the review rating to rate Blackwell Branch Cabin. As much as I would like to keep this place to ourselves, it wouldn’t be fair. After staying for 5 weeks at the sister cabin, “Gili’s Cove Cottage” we were pleased to be the very first to stay at BBC. What an amazing place to stay. There just aren’t enough adjectives to describe the beauty of the Tusquittee Valley or the VRBO opportunities on Serenity Lane. The moment you cross over that sweet bridge which spans the Tusquittee River, you enter heaven on earth. Serene, forested, cool, calm…and on and on. BBC was every bit as spotless as their other property, Gili’s Cove Cottage, and offered a more “cabin-y” feel to it. A huge porch wraps around 3 sides of the home. With 3 bedrooms available, we invited two couples to come stay for a few days and enjoy it with us. Jorge and Linda couldn’t be more welcoming or hospitable! We count them as family now! And they loved our dog Abby and made her feel at home with sweet doggie bowls and feeding area close to the kitchen. And we knew if we were going to be gone for the day, Linda would take Abby for a walk for a very reasonable fee. Where can you get that when you travel with a pet? And that creek!! You will never want to go inside. The sound is SO soothing. You honestly forget all your troubles back home when you cross over that bridge. There are so many things to enjoy in the areas of Hayesville, Brasstown, Hiawassee and Murphy. All are within easy driving distance and offer a variety of adventures for all. We’ll be back in the Fall and chose Serenity Lane to be our VRBO of choice! I know you will, too, dang it!
