Screen porch is huge ! Linda and Jorge were wonderful and helpful hosts and have the house supplied with everything you need, other than your food and clothes! It’s a lovely home, with lots of light and all windows on the back overlooking the rushing stream. The screen porch is huge and a great place to read, relax, have a meal, or work on a hobby at the huge picnic table and listen to the stream. We stayed 2 weeks and didn’t want to leave, so we extended our stay a couple more days, before the next guests arrived. If you are a rockhound or gem hunter, don’t miss the Gem and Mineral museum in Franklin (who can help you with where to go) and if you want the fun without the hard work, we did “enhanced buckets” at both Mason Mountain Mine (and Cowee Gift Shop) and Rose Creek Mine, both just a bit north of Franklin. We loved both, but esp. Mason Mountain mine, as they add their gems, crystals, etc. to dirt from the mine so we got a lot of extra garnets and rubies (that they are known for). You can also dig your own dirt at both, which a lot of younger folks were doing.
Attention to detail! thank you for your attention to detail and for anticipating any possible needs your guests might have. You have a beautiful home. We hope to return one day! We had a wonderful, peaceful stay. Now, it’s back to the rat race where the rats appear to be winning!
Loved sitting next to the stream. We have rented from VRBO many times. Without a doubt, this is the cleanest, most well stocked rental we have ever walked into! Furnished with tasteful, high quality bedding, towels and every kitchen gadget you might ever need. Late getting in, we didn’t meet Linda for a couple of days. She asked was there anything we needed or was out of. I replied, “are you kidding? The only thing I hadn’t seen was bathroom scales (but then I wasn’t looking)! I was joking but the next morning, we found a pair of scales on the front porch! Talking about porches…that back porch…you’ll just have to experience that for yourself!!! Loved sitting next to the stream just feet away from the back door and our son caught 30+ fish in the pond on the property. Animals are always a draw for me so we enjoyed the group of deer that walked by several mornings and there were cows and a very friendly donkey on adjoining property we got to pet.
The Mountains are my happy place! Hard to believe this is our 7th year at Gili’s Cove. As return guests and being a native of Hayesville myself, I am happiest when I am here in the mountains. Linda and Jorge are excellent hosts and provide all that guests could possibly need for a relaxing stay in the mountains. The kitchen is well equipped, so all you need is the food. We love everything about Gili’s Cove, but some of the favorite things are the creek, peaceful surroundings, and that new trail along the creek. We were excited to see that the trail had been extended and an additional trail added around a hidden pond. We love it! We missed “Harry the Herron” at the creek but hope to meet him next year. I did spot a Broad Winged Hawk, which was pretty awesome! So, if you’re looking for a great place to get away and relax, look no farther! We love Linda and Jorge and thank them for sharing this little piece of heaven, tucked away in the mountains.
Fields of wildflowers! I’ve rented properties multiple times through VRBO and must say my experiences have all been positive. This rental however, is on some higher level. You are lucky if the description and photos of a property match the reality once you get there, though most are fairly accurate. The pictures and descriptions don’t give this place justice. First the house….exceptionally clean and stocked with anything you could possibly need. The owner actually shows you around and lives nearby….I’ve never had this happen at a VRBO property before…usually just a lock box or digital key pad and code to enter in. The description online is accurate and there are numerous personal touches not mentioned but present nonetheless. Three of us stayed 4 nights and ate all meals in and never had to wash dishes in order to have clean ones for a meal– that well-stocked. The owner e-mailed about thirty pages of info prior to our arrival listing everything someone might have a need for in the local town and directions on how to get there. From all the restaurants, stores, pharmacies, auto repair, veterinarians…you name it…it was on the list. Plus all local attractions, hiking trails etc. The property the house sits on is spectacular! Secluded and tucked in the woods along a rushing trout stream. Across the stream there are fields of wildflowers with a small lake in the center. Hiking paths all through the property and along the stream and around the lakes. I did a little catch and release fishing in the stream and caught and released three small native rainbows. Only fished a bit in the catch and release lake, but did not catch any fish. Live bait would probably be the ticket there. Anyway, if I had to dream up an ideal property I’d love to live on….this would be it. And it was also hosted by some super nice folks!!!
Dog friendly property. We loved our stay here. The cabin was comfortable, ell-equipped, quiet and a great place to relax. The house was in excellent condition and shows how much work the is put into it to maintain it. The hosts, Linda and Jorge, were extremely helpful and were only a short distance away. Clearly a dog friendly property. We appreciated being able to bring our two dogs. We heartily recommend it and it certainly earned 5 stars!
