It's all about the creek…and the mountains

The Gold Standard For Customer Service

In full disclosure, I am a beach lover, not a mountain lover; the fact that a beach lover is already considering a return trip speaks volumes about this retreat. From the welcoming wrap around porch with multiple areas for gathering (rocking chairs on front porch, picnic table with gas grill on side porch, an artisan chair with stool and 2 tables on back porch) to the babbling creek that can be heard from anywhere outside, it feels like it’s welcoming you in. We loved having an old fashioned screen door and screens over each of the French doors ( 2 sets on each of 2 walls in the living area), that allowed the cool air to carry in the beautiful sound of the creek behind the cabin. Upstairs is a loft bedroom and a small bedroom with an adorable (comfortable) trundle bed; downstairs is the 3rd bedroom beside the 2nd bath (with the great clawfoot tub for soaking and option of turning on the dim light over the tub, only, we added a scented candle and some music…VOILA! instant spa). The crown jewel that makes this place stand out, however, is the unbelievable attentiveness by the owners, Linda and Jorge. We walked in to a fresh flower arrangement, arranged by the skilled Jorge. Each bathroom has a mini wall vase , each with it’s own arrangement. The kitchen is stocked with tea bags (both caffeinated and herbal), spices, flour, birthday candles, plastic wrap, aluminum foil, coffee, a bowl of fresh fruit and indulgent cookies. Has your jaw dropped, yet?? OURS did! There was a first aid kit, bug spray, scissors, tape, note pads, stain remover, etc…and a promise to try to provide anything that we needed that wasn’t there. We were just excited to have a large pantry space; we were stunned at all of the additional surprises. The best of the surprises, if you ask my 8 yr old, is the perfect yard for fairy searching…there is a stump with a “door” in the base and a perfect seat in the side for sitting and watching for incoming fairies. I think she enjoyed that as much as the “treehouse/playhouse” with the loft area and the best view on the lot from the playhouse porch. The ladder to the playhouse has been modified and converted to steps; with handrails on each side, even my 74 yo mom was able to ascend the ladder to the playhouse. For me, the best treat was having a daytime fire in the firepit to thaw my toes out after wading in the creek. As my daughter said, “Don’t tell everybody about it; it’ll be too busy for us to get to come back!”
